Journalist Bob Wilton tries to rebuild his life after his wife leaves him by pursuing a daring war reportage in Iraq. However, he struggles to make progress until he encounters Lyn Cassady, who claims to be a parapsychological super soldier on a secret mission. Though skeptical at first, Bob seizes the opportunity to get into the war zone and convinces Lyn to let him join him.

Their journey becomes a series of absurd and hilarious episodes due to Lyn's alleged supernatural abilities. They face challenges such as driving into a rock, being kidnapped by terrorists, getting caught in a shootout between rival security services, and risking death from dehydration in the desert. Flashbacks reveal the history of the New Earth Army, which aimed to train soldiers with psychic powers based on hippie principles of Love and Peace. Lyn learned skills like cloud-bursting, walking through walls, and staring goats to death.
